She wants to make sure that all young kids get to explore technology in a collaborative and fun way, and to understand the value of failing. She is very positive and driven person that never stops dreaming, creating, and is excited to support TechExplore by: helping other students get involved with this amazing cause, and offering feedback on educational content.
Riya is the founder of SmartCane and a student at Whiteoaks PS. Just a “regular kid” until she was introduced to entrepreneurship at the age of 12 through the program, ZeroToStartup. Her second venture, SmartCane began as a science fair project. It is a modernized orientation and mobility device for the visually impaired and deafblind community, and has won many awards. Harnessing the power of technology and creativity, she was able to create so much. She is upset that schools are not doing a good enough job of teaching technology, explaining how even at the age of 14, “she has never had a coding class at school.” She ardently supports TechExplore by sharing our work with her network, to help grow the number of kids we can help!
